Our Story.
 our Mission.

Our program in a nutshell:  Proven, safe and effective workouts that generate quick results.  Also—it’s fun, challenging and like no other workout you’ve ever done before.  It’s specifically designed to improve core strength and maximize conditioning.  The CrossFit program selects the most effective exercises from multiple workouts and sport regimens.  The activities range from metabolic conditioning (“cardio”) to gymnastics, from Olympic weightlifting to rowing, running and more.   Workouts are constantly varied—so it never gets boring because it’s never the same twice!  The result—increased overall fitness, which literally makes your daily life easier, your clothes fit better and your body starts reshaping.

Anyone can do our program—isn’t it time to listen to that little voice?  The one that says I CAN DO THIS!

About Micheal

Owner and Head Coach

I am a Marine Corps veteran; I am honored to have served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  I’ve always been athletic—from mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to running triathlons and marathons, football and track in high school.  In 2008, my wife Janine and I started CrossFit—a passion that quickly became an obsession!

I went back to school and graduated with an Exercise Science degree.  I specialize in movement and endurance coaching & my specialty is working with people fighting obesity and living with disease or disability.

In Michael’s words: “What I love most about coaching our members is…seeing the positive changes they make, seeing their accomplishments and the joy in their eyes when the do something they never thought possible.”

About Dana

Coach and Manager

I fell in love with CrossFit in 2015 and found CrossFit Stony Brook in 2016.  I have a background in martial arts, boxing, and horseback riding.  Through CrossFit, I have found great respect for weight training, running, and full body functional fitness.  I love coaching bootcamp, teens, kids, and CrossFit classes.  My goals for the coming year are to achieve my Level 2 and Striking certifications.

CrossFit Stony Brook’s members and staff have become my friends and part of my family.  I am so thankful to have found a place where I can help others to achieve positive life goals through fitness.

In the daytime, I am a Clinical Psychologist with a specialty in Geriatric Psychology.  A few times a year, I can be found on the stage doing local Children’s theatre.  I have an amazing husband and two phenomenal daughters.
